5/30/2023 0 Comments Summary of the one thing book"Today, I recognize that design is a fascinating mix of technology and psychology, and that designers must be aware of both." Engineers have a strong belief in reasoning.Discoverability is made up of five psychological concepts: 1) Affordances (a chair provides support and, as a result, the capacity to sit) 2) Indicators (a flat panel on a door indicates that it should be pushed) 3) Constraints (design limits that can be physical, cultural, semantic, or logical) 4) Mappings (arranged switches on the wall may indicate which switch controls which light) 5) Feedback (the communicating of an action). Is it possible to figure out what actions are available and how to carry them out? What does it all mean in terms of comprehension? What is the intended application of the product? What exactly do the various controls and settings mean? Discoverability and comprehension are two of the most crucial characteristics of effective design.

5/30/2023 0 Comments Royal by Anthea SharpIf the girl had done such a thing, she recalled nothing of it. I should strike you down where you stand, for aiding my enemies. Her eyes were deep midnight, and diamonds sparkled like stars in her black hair. The queen leaned forward from the tangled briars of her throne, and pointed one long, pale finger at the girl. She sucked a painful breath into her lungs, and tried not to tremble at the strangeness of the world. Her thin dress of silvery gauze lay lightly on her skin, providing little protection from the foreign touch of the air. About her, the creatures of the court laughed and whispered, and the girl wrapped her arms about herself, unsure of this odd new body she inhabited. The newly made girl stood, dazed, before the terrible majesty of the Dark Queen of the Realm of Faerie. 5/30/2023 0 Comments Hope for the Wicked by Edward LornThe hubs and the progeny devour them with glee, while I’m usually hidden away in another room, watching Harry Potter or Pride & Prejudice.Īs much as I liked zombie movies, I found that writing a story with them wasn’t as easy as I thought. The previews for the second season effectively killed any curiosity I might have had about it. The first season of American Horror Story permanently numbed my brain. House of a Thousand Corpses? I don’t think so. While I’m not one to actively watch horror movies, I can sit and do a zombie movie marathon in a whole weekend. Of course, I honed in on the zombie part. One of the authors had this idea for a series featuring Lesbians, college, music, and zombies. Dead Heat came about through a writing group project. 5/30/2023 0 Comments The friend zone abby“Love is not a checklist of pros versus cons. The Friend Zone will have you laughing one moment and grabbing for tissues the next as it tackles the realities of infertility and loss with wit, heart, and a lot of sass.(via Goodreads) THOUGHTS Kristen knows he’d be better off with someone else, but as their attraction grows, it’s harder and harder to keep him at arm’s length. The only catch: Josh wants a big family someday. He’s funny, sexy, never offended by her mile-wide streak of sarcasm, and always one chicken enchilada ahead of her hangry. Planning her best friend’s wedding is bittersweet for Kristen-especially when she meets the best man, Josh Copeland. She’s also keeping a big secret: facing a medically necessary procedure that will make it impossible for her to have children. Kristen Petersen doesn’t do drama, will fight to the death for her friends, and has no room in her life for guys who just don’t get her. 5/30/2023 0 Comments Star wars x wing books(Between the three, he may be on more character sheets than any other Star Wars character.)
5/30/2023 0 Comments A master djinnThis murderer claims to be al-Jahiz, returned to condemn the modern age for its social oppressions. Al-Jahiz transformed the world forty years ago when he opened up the veil between the magical and mundane realms, before vanishing into the unknown. So when someone murders a secret brotherhood dedicated to one of the most famous men in history, al-Jahiz, Agent Fatma is called onto the case. This trade paperback edition contains new-to-print content!Ĭairo, 1912: Though Fatma el-Sha'arawi is the youngest woman working for the Ministry of Alchemy, Enchantments and Supernatural Entities, she's certainly not a rookie, especially after preventing the destruction of the universe last summer. Djèlí Clark goes full-length for the first time in his dazzling debut novel Included in NPR's Favorite Sci-Fi And Fantasy Books Of The Past Decade (2011-2021)Ī Compton Crook Award for Best New Novel Winner Alternatively, readers won’t fail to note that this small book, illustrated with gentle soy-ink drawings and featuring an adult-child bear duo engaged in various sedentary and lively pursuits, could just as easily be about human parent- (or grandparent-) child pairs: some of the softly colored illustrations depict scenarios that are more likely to occur within a home and/or other family-oriented setting. However, the voice could equally be that of an adult, because who can’t look back upon teachers or other early mentors who gave of themselves and offered their pupils so much? Indeed, some of the self-aware, self-assured expressions herein seem perhaps more realistic as uttered from one who’s already grown. This gentle ode to a teacher’s skill at inspiring, encouraging, and being a role model is spoken, presumably, from a child’s viewpoint. A paean to teachers and their surrogates everywhere. 5/30/2023 0 Comments Hex book rebeccaShe logs her research and how she spends her days, but the notebooks ultimately become a painstaking map of love.
